The UMAUKI builder team completed a water tank yesterday at Ngulu primary school in Mwanga. Ngulu is the first village from the tarmac when you head behind the Pare mountains from Lembeni. The team was Ernest, Florens, Rama, Apendaeli and Saidi Daudi. The latter is Daudi’s son whom Daudi has taught to build gutters as well. The skill goes from father to son like in the old times in Finland too.
This tank was made possible by the donation from Miika. His donation was to commemorate her late aunt Sinikka from whom the money came from. Thank you so much.
We have adopted a habit of transporting hand washing kits together with tank building materials to save in transportation costs. So this school already got their kits and Miika’s donation covered the cost as well. Of course the school pays their part of the cost of everything.
This school is a new school with only two classrooms ready (not ready in the fullest understanding as you can see from the photos). But the plan is that the old Ngulu primary becomes a vocational school when the primary moves to this new building.
And as the fundis get younger so does the technical communications that are sent to Mama Liana in Finland! Here is the first video from the fundi group! Note the birds calling :-)
UMAUKI:n rakentajatiimi sai valmiiksi vesitankin eilen Ngulun alakoululla Mwangassa. Ngulu on ensimmäinen kylä asfaltilta päin kun lähdetään Parevuorten taakse Lembenistä. Tiimissä olivat Ernest, Florens, Rama, Apendaeli ja Saidi Daudi. Viimeisin on Daudin poika, jonka Daudi on opettanut myös tekemään kattokouruja. Taito siirtyy isältä pojalle kuin aikoinaan Suomessakin.
Tämän tankin mahdollisti Miikan lahjoitus. Hän lahjoitti muistaakseen tällä hyvällä teolla edesmennyttä tätiään Sinikkaa, jolta hän sai rahan. Suuri kiitos!
Olemme ottaneet tavaksemme kuljettaa käsienpesulaitteet samalla kyydillä kuin vesitankin materiaalit säästäksemme kustannuksissa. Joten Ngulu sai myös samalla laitteet ja Miikan lahjoitus maksoi ne myös. Toki siis koulu maksaa kaikesta oman osansa.
Tämä koulu on uusi ja siinä on vasta kaksi luokkahuonetta valmiina (ei ehkä aivan sanan täydessä merkityksessä kun katsoo kuvia). Suunnitelma on, että alakoulu muuttaa tähän ja entisestä koulusta tulee ammattikoulu.
Ja kun rakentajat nuortuvat samalla muuttuu myös heidän tekninen raportointinsa Mama Lianalle Suomessa. Tässä on ensimmäinen video rakentajaryhmältä. Huomaa lintujen laulu :-)
