Kiraenin alakoulu rakensi kanssamme hellan viime viikon aikana. Taas on yksi koulu lisää niiden joukossa, jotka keittävät ruokansa huomattavasti vähemmällä polttopuumäärällä. Koulujen mukaan hellan käyttö vähentää 50-75% kulutuksesta. Ja savut menevät ulos piippua pitkin eivätkä tupruta keittiön sisäilmaan. Kiitos lahjoittajille: M & J-P. He ovatkin Lianan ahkerimmat lahjoittajat. Olisipa mukava, jos joku päivä Rombon ja […]

(Below in English) Jouluaattona valmistui tämä vesitankki Mgagaon yläkoululle. Kiitos Heidin, joka lahjoitti Lianan osuuden. Aiemmin Sister Rose mainitsi minulle juuri tämän koulun vesitarpeesta minulle. Kuten kuvasta

This past week a new stove was completed high up on the Pare Mountains in Mwanga. We do not normally work in the highlands, but make exceptions now and then based on requests. This school needed a very big stove. But a new design was used that meant that only one chimney was built. This

In November 2021 Liana provided nursery training for five schools in Rombo and five schools in Mwanga. We also taught that protecting self-grown seedlings (wildings) is an easy way to get more trees. Wild seedlings are strong. Their growth can be accelerated by applying dry livestock manure to the roots. But they must also be

Kamani on aivan Pare-vuorten kupeessa Mwangan

Builders completed the second SGG (Sustainable Global Gardens) water tank in Mwanga on Thursday. This tank was built for Kwakoa primary school on the southern end of Pare mountains in the lowlands. Builders were Ndanu, Musa, Ernest, Daudi and Dhahiri. The last one is a builder who was trained to build school stoves in the

Earlier in August we received again funding from Stats4SD for our work in Tanzania. This was 3000 Pounds and became 3514.83€. We have earlier received funds from them in 2018, 2019 and 2020.  This is a rewarding ‘partnership’ to us both. As Carlos the Executive Director of Stats4SD puts it: “It is great to be

You will remember my previous news blog about the sleeping and eating conditions of builders at Maasai school in Mwanga. Prompted by it we decided to buy the builders their own personal sleeping bags. Inspired by my message, Liana’s members and supporters participated in the sleeping bag purchase. At the same time, we acquired a

Last week we built a water tank for a school located high on the Pare mountains. This is exceptional as we normally assist schools in the dry lowlands. The school is called Changaja Cleopas Msuya secondary school. We built this tank at the request and by the funding of another organization, the Sustainable Global Garden

Building news again. Builders have just finished a water tank at Kauzeni primary school. This was funded from the Liana part by Stats4SD. The school is in the dry plains in Mwanga close to Mgagao village. It was altogether a different experience, particularly for the builders. Their hardship endurance was tested to the limit. Two
